Honda Insight Hybrid 2.0
The all new Honda Insight hybrid version 2.0, still officially a concept car but probably very close to what the production model will look like, has been generating a lot of buzz lately. Finally some competition for the Toyota Prius from a dedicated hybrid model, and it's going to be cheaper to boot (around $18.5k).
New Honda Insight Blog
Honda has just launched a new Insight Hybrid blog called Latest Insight with a few new pictures and videos. Still no confirmation on specs (MPG, emissions, etc) for the production model, though. Read on for pics & videos of the Honda Insight version 2.0.

At the Paris Auto Show, Honda mentioned its 10 years of experience with hybrid vehicles. Good for them, but we wish they put more R&D resources into plug-in series hybrids (like the GM Volt and Fisker Karma), or even into parallel plug-in hybrids (like the upcoming plug-in Toyota Prius) rather than into super-expensive, low-volume fuel cell hydrogen vehicles like the Honda FCX Clarity.

I think it looks pretty great. Would love it even more with some more normal wheels, like those of the higher-end civics.
I hope it'll get over 60 MPG!
I'm seriously considering getting one. Waiting for MPG numbers and real price.
Why do all these type of cars look like a bubble. Can we get a selection of shapes please.
Or does Hybrid = bubble??
Hybrid = bubble??? Hybrids get great fuel economy for a number of reasons, but one is aerodynamics. You want a smooth laminar airflow, with as little drag as possible.
With that in mind, you might as well ask why all nearly all airplane wings have the same shape. Form follows function.
The Mercedes E-Class has brilliant aerodynamics and doesn't look like it guest starred in "Transformers: The Movie".
It's fuel economy is pathetic. The older insight beats it with one left hand... what a disappointing step back... not even a 50 mpg.. Even non-hybrid Smart beats it.
The front looks very similar to the Civic Type R which is a Honda performance vehicle, not a hybrid.
I personally love the look of the new insight but it needs better looking wheels and that C Pillar looks thick enough to block radiation!
The Honda Insight Hybrid Car has been widely applauded for its efficient packaging, superior fuel efficiency and advanced styling.
The new Insight looks great - better than any Prius.
It looks like rear headroom could be a challenge like the Prius.
Just saw this car 'live' recently at the Melbourne Motor Show. It looks even better live than it does in the pictures. It's great that Honda can pursue environmentally friendly technology without sacrificing attractive styling.
I took delivery of an Insight EX today and my first impression is that this is a great car. I have owned at least 6 Honda's over the past 20 years and this is the best one yet. There are many great features in the EX model with navigation that you would expect to see on a more expensive car. I love the bluetooth and the voice activated controls. The set up in easy and quick so the technology is easy to use, you don't need to be a nerd to operate the controls. I paid $23,770 for the car which was list plus the destination fee and I consider it a great value. The ECON mode is interesting as it tells you how well or how poorly you are driving at any time. You can also earn "rewards" for driving economically. The rewards are little trees that eventually turn into medals as you become a better driver. The first 60 miles have been great!
