Electric Porsche 911
Ruf Automobile GmbH, a German automotive company that has been tuning Porsches for a long time, will make an electric version of the Porsche 911 called the eRUF Model A.
Under the hood, a 150kW (201hp) brushless three phase A/C electric motor that can generate an impressive 480 lb.-ft. of torque and a lithium-ion iron-phosphate battery pack made of 96 160Ah Axeon cells and a sophisticated monitoring system to make sure it doesn't overheat. Read on for more details and photos.

eRUF Porsche Technical Specifications
Green Car Congress:
It accelerates from zero to 100 kph in less than seven seconds and has a top speed of 225 kph (140 mph). Estimated range per charge is 250 kilometers to 320 kilometers (155-199 miles), depending on performance level, using a 50.72 kWh lithium-ion iron-phosphate pack from Axeon plc.
But the battery pack could be replaced as new technology comes out. In its press release, RUF says: "The generation of batteries available from Axeon represents by no means the end of the developmental curve. Current performance improvements in battery technology indicate that end of this improvement spiral is nowhere near. "

The eRUF Porsche also features regenerative braking.

It's in the post.
No cost, tho.
I'm not sure what the bumper sticker "Eprobungsfahrt" means, but that sure doesn't translate too well in English. lol
Wow - an electric car that actually looks similar to it's gas-guzzling counterpart. I assume it can re-charge anywhere? What happens if there is an electrical short?
The option of not having to fill up is definitely a great one, but to be honest, I'd be worried it wouldn't hold charge after awhile. Kind of like some cell phones I've had.
But it's good to see more advancements being made to curb harmful emissions - that's a plus.

You know, they actually design these things with a certain lifetime in mind. Many Priuses have put over 300,000 miles (cabs) without battery problems. EVs will be similar.

Yes, they're called conversions. What you do, is you buy a car, then spend another $20K or so replacing the motor with an electric one and a whole lotta batteries.
You'll recoup your costs in about 100 years.
"Erprobungfahrt" means "Test Drive"
Another toy for the rich and irrational. Too bad we are still living in a world were objects like this are desired. This has little to do with the environment. It has to do with being popular and purchasing what is currently considered "cool". Most of the (very few) people who buy electric high performance cars now will buy something completely different in a few years when something else is "in".
I just hope that all that engineering actually does something to contribute positively to the real needs in our world (rather than solely helping those who don't need help).

Wow that looks great !!
range and cost please ... if you can't punctuate, you can't afford!! hahaha
Definitely an early-adopter novelty for sure. However, all these cars out there are great test beds for ideas and different batteries. Such is the extra tragedy concerning the crushed EV-1s. Imagine how much knowledge could have been gained from keeping them running, even if not in the public.
I want to see big SUVs turned into EVs. They have room for batteries, can carry a lot of weight and who cares how much over the speed limit they can go. Over the limit is a waste. Fun for some, but a waste for the average user.

This is just plain stupid! OK so it's electric, it still uses energy to charge the batteries and in the US most of that will be from coal fired power stations. What we need is cheap, reliable electric cars not stupid toys for rich gits that do nothing to tackle the causes of climate change.

Col, the car is in germany, where they have lots of solar, hydro, etc..
But even in the US, even with 50% coal on the grid, electric cars are still cleaner and more efficient than gasoline cars, and it's easier to clean up the grid than clean up hundreds of million of tailpipes.
I really want one of these. Two things I have always wanted in one..a Porsche and an electric car. I would love to be one of the gits driving one of these puppies.
In response to Karsten's anal response. I consider myself to be one of those people you seem to despise. The fact is that people like me who can afford a car like the Porsche are the very people who through their purchasing of expensive breakthrough technologies allow them to be developed in order to make them more affordable. Your self righteous attitude smacks of a wanker who has not managed to make it in the real world and is hiding behind a "green" mantle. I had a look at your website and it too is pitiful. I have used my "ill gotten gains" to build a comfortable carbon neutral house utilizing expensive new energy efficient technology. The house serves as an example of what can be done to minimize our footprint without resorting to living in mud huts. So before you display your badly disguised envy, think about what the benefits are of making desirable energy efficient products.
YES, YES, YES:-)
Don't get too excited. There is no price because, like a lot of great electric cars featured here on TH, it is not for sale. It is just a prototype in its early stages which may never be offered for sale. And the range quoted are apparently goals set for the project, not what the prototype actually gets.
For those thinking that this would be a great performance car, consider that it is 4200 lbs (1000 lbs. heavier than its ICE donor) and the weight distribution was effected. It also lost the back seats (yes, a 911 has small back seats) and the front cargo area to make room for batteries.
So the name is different, but the story is the same - less performance, less utility, less range, and not available at any price unless you build one yourself.
And by "under the hood" you, of course, mean "in the trunk" - right?...
"And by "under the hood" you, of course, mean "in the trunk" - right?..."
Actually, it's both under the front hood and in the trunk, if you look at the renderings and photos.
Well...
Nice substitute. A bit like Subbutex for Heroin.
But seriously, folks...
I know somewhere in a deep layer of many brains lurks the car-ego trip, and not only in the male's models, as females tend to become also more car-conscious, call it emancipation, like the right to die from lung cancer.
If Humanity survives the 21st century -wich I hope and expect- I believe our grand-grand-grand chlldren will consider our car addiction and need for speed with perplexity.
Internal combustion engines will not see the 22nd century, so we should be prepared to say good bye to the kick in the xxx sensation it provided during the brief oil era, and no electric model will be able to satisfy this need.
And if anyone feels for speed, what about biking or roller skating, or doing many other exciting activities involving only human power.
Sorry for patronizing, but, even in my Prius I feel often guilty mobilizing 1.3 tons to carry 2 or 3 people, so this battery packed pathetic Porsche...

Now that conspicuous consumption is out, no one can get credit, who is going to buy these things. This is a story for Popular Mechanics, not treehugger. In no way is it a solution for the huge environmental and economic problems we face.
I love this and there's a guy in the USA who will convert an old 911 to electric for just $18K

I guess my comment was was read by someopne who needed to read it. Good. I wish you would discuss the message rather than resort to insulting or belittleing the messenger. You throw around some pretty insulting terms considering that my post is quite harmless and rather plain. Your upsetness and tone seems to indicate that I took some of the fun of owning such toys away from you. From my point of view that is a good thing. But you don't need my admiration or approval -you certainly have friends that are like you.
You should not click the button that says "post an intelligent and civil comment" if you post comments like your last one.

Who said good-for-you has to be ugly? This is an awesome looking car. Now take that technology to something affordable for the rest of us.
Im not sure if too many people here really understand 480 foot pounds of tourque.. thats power...
No trunk. No hood. There's a bonnet up front, and a rear deck lid.
