As we head into winter (in the northern hemisphere, anyway) one of the hardest things to do in the morning is get out of a hot, relaxing shower. Actually shutting off the hot water and facing the chilly air is…well, tough. However, for those of us in need of help, there is the Eco Showerdrop.
Acting as both a water measurer and timer, the ECO Showerdrop is programmable so once you hit the water limit you’ve set for yourself, like a good friend - or a Water Watcher - it beeps at you until you quit. If you keep showering, the device calculates how much water you’re using until you’re guilted out of the shower.
The extra cool part is it can be made specific to your shower. Different showers use different amounts of water. The Eco Showerdrop can read how much water your specific showerhead is releasing. So…a water saver shower head means longer showers.
Currently for sale in the UK, it runs about $20-$24 and works universally on all showers.

I like the 'guilts you out of the shower part'' lol!
If you're not using a low-flow showerhead already, and faucet aerators, you should be! you're wasting money and resources, and believe it or not, there's no sacrifice on your part. I use showerhead and aerators from eartheasy.com and I actually really like them. here's the link: http://eartheasy.com/shop/water_save.htm
You can also get your aerators from hardware stores. They sell for around $6 for one aerator. But make sure you find ones that say 0.5 GPM, or 1.5GPM. The aerator you have on your sink now is likely a 2.2 or 2.5gpm. Your shower is likely a 2.5GPM as well.
Switch now and save yourself money!

Oh gosh. Just what I need. It would be great if it went PING! like a microwave oven.
Honestly though, shower is a place for me to relax. It's one of those rare places where time disappears: I want to keep it like that.
What is wrong with a cold shower? Then you have nothing to worry about when you get out!
I would argue that you would end up feeling BETTER after having a cold shower. Toughens you up. Hundreds of years ago people used to have no way of heating water for their bathing purposes. That didn't keep them from washing up in the winter though... or at least I would like to think so.
Alright.. turns out that there is nothing inherently wrong with a cold shower.
I put my money where my mouth was, and just had a nice refreshing cold shower. One thing I can say that was positive about it was that it helped make the transition out of the shower all that much more bearable. It also probably saved water, though I didn't time my shower. Oh, but that ended up being two things.
The bad? Threw out my back. Guess that the cold water hitting me made me tense up, and I twisted a little too fast at one point and... well, I am feeling it now.
Point being, June to August the cold shower is your ally. Any other time of the year, stick to the hot variety... that or at least lukewarm.

Hundreds of years ago people did bath with warm water. They heated water over a fire, then poured it into a tub.
This is an awesome idea! I constantly wonder how much time I am spending in the shower, as I'm sure many others do. Affordable price, great idea. I'm sold.
