Denmark To Get Another Offshore Wind Farm: 207 Megawatts by 2010

The US offshore wind market is finally ramping up: Though no projects have been completed yet, Oregon, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey and Delaware all have offshore wind farms in various stages of development. Meanwhile in Europe, offshore development continues strongly.
Denmark, a small country but one which knows a thing or too about transitioning away from fossil fuels, is getting another offshore wind farm. E.ON and Siemens have entered into an agreement to develop the new project, which when completed will be one of Europe's largest. Here’s some more details:
Planned to be built just 3 kilometers from the existing 166 MW Rødsand I project (also known as the Nysted wind farm, and the largest current offshore wind farm in Denmark), the Rødsand II project will consist of 90 turbines for a total capacity of 207 MW. The €275 million ($373 million) project is expected to be completed by 2010, and is estimated to save 700,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
Siemens and E.ON Have Over a Gigawatt of Wind Power in the Works
In addition to the Rødsand II project, E.ON and Siemens have signed an agreement for the purchase of 500 wind turbines, with a total combined capacity of 1,150 MW to be installed at unspecified onshore locations in both the United States and Europe by 2011.
