scorpacciata [score-POTCH-chee-yatta]
n. eating a particular ingredient in copious amounts in peak local season.
Can it be turned into an adjective, like "If this tomato season doesn't end soon I'm gonna be scorpacciatic." ::Apartment Therapy

I'm afraid the friends at Apartment Therapy are partly wrong on this one. "Scorpacciata" means a "lavish meal", but it's not related to a peak local season or a single ingredient.
But it doesn't really matter, because it's all about having good food anyway.
One of my fondest memories from living in Switzerland was the "Spargle Zeit" - not sure if I am spelling that right, but it means "Asparagus Time". When Asparagus is in season, the Swiss go crazy, eating it in copious amounts. Posters in all of the grocery stores and restaurants announce this season and I have to say, they make a mean asparagus soup!
