Friggebod by Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto on 09.10.08

A friggebod is a Swedish garden shed, a way of getting a little more space and a little more privacy. Dorte Mandrup Arkitekter have designed a lovely little 100 square foot cabin/ office/ guest room prefab that is lovely to look at.

Built into the wall to the left of the bookcases.....

...is a bed that folds out and rests on the lower pulled-out part of the bookcase...

...and I suspect that little ledge in the wall to the right in this picture.

Clean and clever design, all within 100 square feet, which is legal to install in many places without a building permit. ::Kompakt Sommarstuga from ::Below the Clouds via ::Notcot

Nice clean simple design. I love the clean look and clever use of space.
Oweee!! The Swedes know what they're doing!
Though I'd prefer it if it were painted the traditional Swedish red
this would make a perfect little art studio if you were lucky enough to own some land. Or you could ask someone who has some land to rent a small parcel to you. Kinda like Dan Price does. He wrote Radical Simplicity, really good easy fun read.
This would be perfect for nomads with an income.

absolutely lovely!
one question, though - how much?
LA: I wish I knew.
Pretty cool - although the architect - Dorte Mandrup - is Danish, based in Copenhagen. "Below The Clouds" is a Swedish Blog.
The Swedes do love their friggebod's though;)
This could be a fun DIY project. But since it is probably a flatback, You could order it from Sweden and it still has a realtively small carbon footprint. But If You can make somthing like that from scavanged or recycled materials, even better.
I bet, if they could IKEA it, the price could be quite competetive...
Nice idea...but could you actually get much use out of it without air conditioning? It looks like, with all that glass...that it would heat up pretty fast in direct sunlight. I have a garden shed this size, with a glass door, and it's like a greenhouse for most of the summer.
Great get one let out to 6 immagrants at £100pw each!!loads o money!!only joking.
na seriously looks great better than the crap we see at garden centres.
