LittleBits CEO Monica Rodgers has contributed yet another great green tip for our eco-tips project! Monica's video shows how children can enjoy reusing old paper, cardboard and art supplies to create their very own recycled paper. Read on for a complete list of materials and the step-by-step process!
What you'll need:
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup shredded paper or cardboard
- watercolor paint
- wire mesh frame (made from an old picture frame)
- sponge
- micro fiber cloth
- rolling pin
- sunlight
Step-By-Step
- Add two cups water and 1 cup shredded paper/ cardboard to blender
- add color to blender then press Blend
- Pour Pulp in to wire mesh
- Add flowers, sparkles, anything extra
- Place another piece of wire mesh over the top
- Use dry sponge to absorb extra water by dabbing the frame
- Squeeze out excess water into sink
- Flip the frame over then lightly tap the wire frame to release the paper on to the cloth
- Put another wire mesh on top and a piece of cloth
- Use rolling pin to roll out excess water
- Remove top mesh and bring the paper outside (with the bottom mesh)
- Remove last layer of mesh and leave to dry in the sun
While the sun dries the paper the non eco-friendly aspect of this process is using the blender!
Let us know how you reuse old paper, cardboard, and newspapers and send us a video tip with your favorite project!
