Eco Tip: Missy Higgins from susty.tv on Vimeo.

Missy Higgins searches for the most environmentally-friendly form of transportation in car-happy Los Angeles. The singer-songwriter just moved from Australia and while she is getting used to the public transit system in LA we suggest using a bicycle to get around. If Missy does want to get a hybrid we can help with our How to Go Green guide on Hybrid Cars.
How do you get around in LA or your city or town? Send us your video tips for our TreeHugger Video Tips project!

If you were unable to view the video above read on for Missy's tip on green transportation in LA!

“I’m trying to work out where I can get the friendliest form of transport in LA because I’ve just moved to LA and I’m trying to figure out how I can get around without getting a car so I’m trying to work out what kind of vehicle I can get which is the friendliest to the environment whether it be a hybrid or a small hatchback or whatever so I’m looking into that at the moment."

I went to school in West LA and, as with the many other car-less students, found Santa Monica Blue Bus a highly viable transport option. Here's the system map: http://www.bigbluebus.com/systemmap/basic.asp

Also, there are some highly walkable areas of LA, especially on the denser Westside. (Los Angelenos just need to reimagine the way their city!) Check out these Walk Scores:

I'm anxious to hear what she has to say!

I'll be moving to the LA area next month and my car's probably staying in Texas for this first phase of my LA invasion. I'll have access to people with cars, but I won't have one of my own out there. I will be bringing my Trek 24 speed bike though.

The other reason I want to hear what she has to say is that she's just cute as button! (I'm a sucker for a cutie with an Australian accent.)
