Survey: Will Starck's Turbine Ever See Light of Day?
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto

Phillipe Starck's wind turbine design got a lot of press when it was shown last month; even the normally sensible Alice Rawsthorn suggested that "there are sound reasons for taking his product seriously." TreeHugger Matt tried to follow up and get some technical details and got this response from the company: "Unfortunately, this is still an ongoing project and we don’t have enough information to communicate on it. Please contact us again next year."

Pass me a beer. LOL!!! First comment, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is about as real as all of those promises of dirt cheap solar photovoltaic films that will eventually coat everything. NOT.
still waiting...
That comment gets posted but all mine are blocked!!??
The technology is old and proven--- its a simple Darrieus design, a vertical axis job, nothing new here but the cosmetics. The delays on this sort of thing are related to getting bids on die-forming, sourcing components, shipping / logistics, who will manufacture the packaging, and all that sort of crap. The only marvel here is going to be getting the price down as far as possible so they have money leftover to spend on their permanent magnet motors. Since they already announced the price, now they just have to see how much performance they can get at that level when they go to have it manufactured. Hence your lack of answers.
