Well you gotta give Spirit Airlines points for chutzpah, although we would love to know where in Florida one can go snorkelling with an oil derrick (their legs and structure attract fish, you know) between you and the beach.

They say "We believe in offshore drilling and other plans that will help keep fares low for you." -the link goes to good buddy T. Boone Pickens, who says "this is one emergency we can't drill our way out of" but whatever. Of course if you are selling your tickets for nine bucks you do probably have a problem these days. ::Spiritair thanks, tipster allison!

Oh man, what's up with that girl's hairy man-arm? Perhaps she's been swimming too long near the oil derrick.

yeah, couple the obviously dubious tagline, and the site of an overly ugly oil platform directly off the cost of a pristine beach, with the chick with 'Man arm hair', and I think you have the makings for Satire.

Could be wrong.

I'm pretty sure when the picture mentions 'offshore drilling' I don't think they're talking about trying to find barrels of oil but rather use it as a euphemism for seaside fornication while on holiday.

you know ..... drilling? ..... get it?

jump to top Rajio says:

I believe that offshore drilling is responsible for killing animals. I believe that offshore drilling should be banned. I believe that spirit airlines is a company that has proven that they don't care about the environment whatsoever. what kind of ad is this? makes me sick.

What an odd ad. Maybe they're trying to win over the alienated conservative niche which is feeling ignored now that every company is trying to "go green?" Maybe a bit like how every town of a certain size has several friendly, but kinda samey coffee shops and one punk coffee shop where the employees are jerks and the ads are smarmy, but people go there anyway because they like the break from your standard corporate friendliness?

jump to top Tim says:

Won't keep their business from going the way of the dodo, especially since Myrtle Beach has ceased to cast its alluring spell over Americans.

This is all tounge in cheek. They also had a MILF(Multiple Islands Low Fares) sale. And the islands made an outline of a woman.
