The LED efficiency figures quoted don't sound right.

According to this the efficiency of high pressure sodium lights should be much greater than that of white LEDs (roughly double).

They might be able to use slightly fewer lumens total due to the directionality of the LED lights, but this seems suspect. I fail to see the advantage of LEDs for this application.

$3.5 million in new lamps to save $300K a year in electrical costs.

Plus all the fuel burned to go around and replace working lamps. THen consider the massive amount of mercury going to the dump.....

The current mayor is running for another office - any surprise?

As a semi-green taxpayer, I am not happy on both counts.
