Quote of the Day: Michele Bachmann on the Secret Green Agenda
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto

Listen to Michele (video is fake)
I have to give Minnesota representative Michele Bachmann credit for figuring out the secret hidden agenda and making it public, the real reason Democrats and environmentalists want to make the United States "the only country that has made it illegal to access its own energy."
"This is their agenda," Bachmann states bluntly. "I know it is hard to believe, it's hard to fathom -- but this is 'mission accomplished' for them," she asserts. "They want Americans to take transit and move to the inner cities. They want Americans to move to the urban core, live in tenements, [and] take light rail to their government jobs. That's their vision for America."

Crap, she outted us! Dang, what are we going to do now? Maybe, use the good farmland near cities for farming instead of suburb? Na...
They want americans to move to the "urban core" where the "minorities" live. And they want you to give up your guns. Yes, your guns! They want to eat your children and abort your babies. Be afraid. Be very afraid. And vote republican!
Girlfriend, you couldn't AFFORD to buy in my inner city...
I love how certain topics are automatically written off as "wrong" and "bad".
They want you to take transit! (Gasp!)
Ride bikes!! (What!?!?)
And EAT LESS MEAT (OH NOES!!)
Personally, what gets me through these little conserv-o-fits is to imagine everything they say as if they were a two year old whining for a candy bar. Because that's about how logical and adult most of these arguments really are.
But I don't want to riiiide the buuuuuuuuuuus. (Pouty face)
I am happy to take transit instead of drive. I'd live in an urban core too if it weren't so darn expensive. I have no interest in gubmint jerbs. And i have no interest in forcing anyone into those state of affairs. I do have an interest in eliminating similar government imposed forcings which cause waste and excess above what the otherwise free market would support. e.g. fossil fuel, road, housing subsidies, etc.
I have to say she's absolutely right and she gave a nice speech I hope she spreads it around!
In 50 years we're all going to look at these kind of messages the way we look at those victorian ads that promote electroshocks that cure the "female hysteria".
I also like the comment, "She also predicts that gasoline prices would rise above five dollars a gallon if Obama is elected president." Wow! What a prediction. She actually believes that in the next four years gas prices will rise $1.
Way to tune in your foresight, Nostradamus.
I can't help but laugh that she's "conservative" and we're trying to conserve, yet this doesn't fit in with her goals. Accident of language, I suppose, or maybe an inherent problem with using labels and buzzwords for groups.
Ms Bachmann:
I promote living close to wherever your job is, if it's in the suburbs, on a farm, in a factory, or in a skyscraper. I really don't care where your job is or what your job is.
And do you know why I promote this ideal? So that you and everyone else can shut up about the price of gas. It's really not going to get better until consumption goes down. That's a simple fact that any conservative who ever wanted to make a buck knows. Even if supply increases, persistently high consumption will increase price. Even so, reducing *your* consumption will reduce what *you* pay, benefiting *you*. And it's something you can do today and see immediate benefits from, instead of waiting 4 to 6 years for a big government solution that might not even work.
And hey, it's not like having a short commute is not without its own benefits. You get to spend more time with your family, instead of commuting. You experience less stress. You might even get more exercise and live a healthier life.
I'm a Canadian following the US election with some interest. Let's face it, whatever happens in the US is sure to effect Canada.
What strikes me about her comments is that "IF Obama is elected .... the cost of gas will reach $5 a gallon".
Is she saying that if you vote republican John McCain will prevent this from happening? As far as I can tell, the cost of gasoline is going to increase no matter what anyone does.
Anyone who says that they can reduce the cost of fossil fuels is lying. Plan and simple.
" Obama will rise the gasoline to $5"
Well I will ask Obama to riser the price of fuel to the same level as European have ($7-10)
The higher the price of fuel the less people will used.
The $700 billion a year that we spending on oil do not return to us any time sun. If we have to pay let pay that to our government in form of gasoline tax that can be reinvested in technology that will improve efficiency to reduce overall energy usage.
1. I will introduce building cod for whole US that will apply to new and old houses that will required to improve insulation, and required to have in every building solar thermal heating.
2. I will adopt European emission standard so car with diesel engine could be imported to US and/or produced in US.
3. I will impose minimum acceleration time for cars with value of 10s to 62miles for all cars (car that will have lover then 10s will have special annual tax). Car that have ICE and are design to have low acceleration are significantly more efficient. It will not apply to electric cars.
4. Impose tax for engine displacement (the higher the displacement the more you pay manually). It will promote to but car with small engine.
Living the efficiency improvements just to market economy as McKane proposing will slow down any improvements and will lead to total catastrophe in US (energy shock). McKane is fundamentally wrong
assuming that increasing oil production in US will solve fuel problem. At bets will will move the problem few years a head , but in that time to shock will be total.
They're Zombies. I've put a lot of thought into it and it's the only logical explination.
