Flatpack Portable Toilet with UnTreeHugger Name

Only yesterday our Queen of Tech asked "Any more downloadable designs coming in the near future?" That is the term we give to a lot of flatpack designs that could easily be transmitted by computer, and to many cardboard and paper designs. Sure enough, this came down the pipes right after her request- a downloadable design that you can download right into.

The eponymously named Brown Corporation makes this "lightweight portable cardboard toilet, made specifically for outdoor use. The concept is simple the box pops up from its convenient 14” flat pack to a rigid reusable box, you pop in a degradable poo bag, do you business, seal and dispose of (responsibly of course!), and off you go."

It was developed by fashion retailer Richard Wharton who had to make one too many trips to the loo at the Glastonbury Festival, and wanted a private, non-chemical john that could be used for rock concerts, camping, building sites, fishing, travelling and kids caught short.

It is all made out of recycled cardboard (don't use it in the rain) and even the poo bags contain "P-Life™ additive which enables the bag to harmlessly degrade to water and CO2 over a fixed period of time."

However, where we live people pick up their dog poop in little plastic bags, and it is surprising how many neatly tied up bundles of the stuff one sees on the sidewalk or in the gutter. I suppose it is better than just dumping by the side of the road, but I suspect there will be many of these flying out of car windows on the motorways of England. ::Brown Corporation via ::Core77

At 16 GBP (~32 USD), this is way, way, way, way, way overpriced. At this price, you should feel as though you were in the box while the company does its business.

LA: once again, you cannot do a straight conversion, you have to take into account purchasing power parity; if made in america and sold here it would probably come out at 16 bucks.

Why is the name untreehugger? I think it is very treehugger to call things what they are rather using circumventing or vague language.

The happy little turd on the side of the box disturbs me. D:

I like the name, and I like the Mr. Hankey on the side:
"Howdy-HO!"
