More Uses For Old Lightbulbs: Concrete Wall Hooks

Take Action (how to)

It is sort of like brass baby booties; when our walls are all embedded with LEDs and lighting is part of the fabric of our house, we will be able to answer the question "grandpa, what's a lightbulb?" If we have made these lovely concrete lightbulb wall hooks.

It looks relatively easy, although whamodyne's instructions suggest a 3-1/2 inch long lag bolt set two inches into the bulb; that is barely out of the neck of the bulb. I wouldn't put too much weight on the ball part of it. ::Instructables via ::Apartment Therapy

Here's a million dollar idea. You could also use concrete filled lightbulbs as door knob handles. I better hurry and start my own company. Any interested investors out there?

With cement production being a huge source of GHG, it doe's not seem very treehugger to dream up new uses for cement, just to recycle a light bulb screw cap.

Is the footprint of the (admittedly small) concrete use worth it?

I like the idea of getting old doorknobs from a building salvage place, mounting those on a strip of wood, and putting those on the wall for hooks -- they look neat, if you find cool doorknobs, and don't require adding new stuff, especially something like concrete.

This is simply the most absurd idea I have ever seen on these pages.
