cfl looks like light bulb photo

For everyone out there who hates the look of compact fluorescents, German designer Felix Stark of Formstark offers this new design that looks just like an incandescent, with a filament and bulb around it. This will, I am sure, satisfy all objections, right? ::Formstark via ::NotCot

my roommate broke one last night :(

it was a she, and she didn't like the glare of it in the bathroom, and removed it to put back the incandescents.

justification: we are not in there that long and the lighting's important.

well, okay i say. sigh.

No, I hate the LIGHT from CFLs, so this will not help at all. Nice gimmick though!

Light from CFLs varies depending on the color and wattage you select. Its hard for me to believe that you haven't come across a CFL that provides the kind of light you like.

Also, this is cute, but if people don't like the shape of the bulbs they are missing the point. Lights serve a function, they provide light. CFLs are shaped in a way that allowws them to provide the most light, most efficiently. If that shape bothers you, you probably should get over yourself.

get over the color of the light. i love the bluish tinge. i'm sad that almost all cfl bulbs being made now are closer to the color range of the incandescent bulbs.

what kind of person HATES cfl bulbs anyway...

I would buy this in a heartbeat but I clicked over to the link and the Stark web site doesn't seem to feature this product. Is it being sold anywhere?

I agree with thespyofcharles in response to ecobore.

The entire point of artificial light is to serve a function, to create light for us in places where we need it, when we need it. Personally, I dont see the point in people's obsessence with incandecents, the only reason we seem to "like it" more than cfl's is because we are all used to it.

Well as a proponent of the use of natural light for most uses - considering not only the environmental benefits, but also the human health and happiness benefits - with an effort to only use artificial light when we dont have the free light of the sun, I dont see the point in trying to stick with an outdated system of lighting during the few hours a day (or night, for that matter) that we need it.

Get over you reliances on old, outdated, and less efficient systems, and go with the ones that provide for our needs while lessening our impact.

p.s. if this kind of argument cannot persuade you, mabey you should just consider YOUR costs at the market. Replace an incandecent every few months, or a CFL every year or more....its your wallet...

Forgive me, but I can't tell if this is supposed to be a joke - there are people that object to the SHAPE of CFLs? Are these people nuts? The color I can understand, but Kai is right (above), you can buy CFLs in many different light colors.

Maybe electricity prices just aren't high enough? With gas at $4/gallon in the US, lots of people sure got over their disliked of the Prius' shape.

This is the kind of innovation I'm talking about. When more green products figure out how to make things cheaper and are more aesthetically pleasing, then the mass market will really start to latch onto the trend.
