Keep a little salt, baking soda, vinegar, lemon concentrate, and peppermint oil soap handy -- and a little elbow grease -- and you can do most of what needs doing with a whole lot less cost -- and often less of a carbon footprint -- than with many "green clean" products.
I keep a spray bottle of water with a trace of the peppermint soap handy in the kitchen, for example, and when we're done with a dish (that's been scraped into the compost bucket and then rinsed once in the greywater bucket), mist it a little, set it aside for a couple of minutes for the moisture to penetrate, and it practically washes itself. Countertops, spills on the floor, table, bottles and jars where the food has spilled a little -- all made easy mostly by that little wait.
And do the wipe with a cloth, which you can rinse out at the end of the chores, wring dry, and hang up in the sun ( a great disinfectant).
