Rescuing a 375 lbs Male Black Bear
Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission biologist Adam Warwick just couldn't let the bear drown, so he took off his shirt and dive after it. The 375 lbs black bear had been spotted in a residential area, obviously looking for food, and was shot with a tranquilizer dart. Unfortunately, before it went under, it jumped in the water of the Gulf of Mexico. More photos and a video below.

On this photo you can see the tranquilizer dart.

"After watching the dramatic rescue effort unfold, local resident Thad Brett brought his digger to the beachfront to carry the bear away."

Well done to Adam Warwick... more worried about the stingrays - classic!
What?! The bear was tranquilized? What a pussy. I would have waited until the bear woke up. Now that would have been a challenge!
Thank you Adam for being a compassionate human!
Are black bears common to Florida?????
I have a hard time getting people to pull over to help a hurt or lost dog, and this guy jumps in to save a bear!!!! My dream man : )
Wow.
WOW! Kudos to Adam!
That is really cool - Adam that is an awesome and super kind thing to do - way to go!
Well done! World needs more people like you!
Adam that is one of the most compassionate acts I have ever seen! It touched my heart deeply! I wish there were more people out there like you:)
To tell you the truth i think that this man deserves to keep the bear, heck you save it its yours
My hero. I'd go all wild thing all over you but you live in another state.
Great to see somebody saving a beautiful bear rather than the usual awful hunting stories we hear all the time. This is a REAL man, you macho jerk hunters/cowards/murderers!
Congrats and thank you. That is the way to set the example.
clap clap.
thanks :)
Wow, good on you Adam! Definatley goes some way to restore my faith in human nature :)
Good work, Adam. You risked your life for that beautiful animal -- it could've very easily taken it.
Your obvious passion and respect for creatures that share the shrinking planet with us is hugely inspiring. I hope many people see this. Thank you.
BADASS. He is the only human man i can think of that would save a bear from drowning and be more concerned about stingrays.
Way to go My Man, the drowning bear story is a Lady Killer for sure..All jokes aside, ya did a Good Job..
I think ya myself...
Jawbone
And the whole time the bear is thinking: WTF?!?!
Wow, what an uplifting story and kudos to this fella for his caring spirit. I've recently had a black bear encounter of en entirely different type. I am posting this to take exception with the person asserting that hunters are equivalent to cowards and murderers... for starters, the world is not vegetarian or vegan. I respect those who choose to be, but it is an impractical lifestyle choice for some of the population due to availability of certain necessary foods/supplements and the typically higher cost associated with having a nutritionally complete diet within that particular lifestyle. I know of people around my area who live in poor, rural towns and HAVE to hunt to help put food on the table for their families. These are folks who don't rely on the government for a penny of assistance, they grow a lot of their own food, and their carbon footprint is probably half that of most vegans/vegetarians. Yes, there are the unsporting idiots who go out on huge ATVs with night vision scopes, bait, and video cameras so they can snag a head to put on the wall and discard the rest, but this isn't even real hunting. C'mon PPL, please think before you make such broad assumptions about an entire demographic.
nonsequitur: couldn't agree more. Well said.
But i can understand his fear of sting rays, they did get steve irwin after all....which was a sad day.
Here's to men and women emulating the actions of this man Adam. Well done - you are a champion. Thanks for not letting this magnificent animal drown.
