Coming to Planet Green this fall...
Ludacris? Tommy Lee? Are these celebs changing lightbulbs and using manure for fuel? You bet they are. And they are challenging you to join them in saving the planet on their new tv show.
The contest is a 30 day challenge to see which “team” can do more to save the planet. The winner headlines the concert, the loser…opens. And lets just say that the taping last week of this epic concert, well, rocked!
The event had all the makings of a rock show, complete with screaming fans and a crowd rushing the stage as soon as the house lights went down. The pair event rolled up in matching tour buses fueled by biodiesel.
Tommy Lee ran around the stage the entire night with an unbelievable amount of energy, and overwhelmingly endorsed Train as not only a great band but close friends. Luda was much more reserved and serious about the event, asking the audience to consider their future and their children's future on this planet among the many reasons to get your hands dirty for the environment.
The Musical Celebrities
At the event, the groups taped several possible endings and were joined with a bunch of their friends. The evening was even complete with a famous MC, comedian Cedric the Entertainer. Dee Snyder kicked the night off with a revamped version of “We’re not gonna take it” backed by Bowling for Soup.
Musical acts included Train, Blue Man Group, Ziggy Marley (who did a special encore of Redemption Song with Tommy Davidson, complete with new improv lyrics from Davidson), ZZ Top's Billy Gibbs and Slash among others.
Pre-Party for Planet Green Launch
The Battleground Earth taping also dubbed as the Planet Green channel official launch and Hollywood came out to show some green love. The event was complete with a GREEN carpet and a giant, walking tree got many hugs and pictures taken with the stars. Eco-celebs mingled with Discovery staff while noshing on organic food and beverages. For a list of just who popped by, check out the green carpet review.
Hosts from many of the new Discovery shows showed up for the event including Mike Rowe and Maria Menounos. Then other green celebs like Adriene Grenier, Tom Green and Keenan Ivory Wayans chatted up their green endeavors with press on the green carpet. The audience was a mix of partygoers and the general public who purchased tickets to see this random mix of fame all under one roof at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, CA.
Wanna find out who won the contest? You’ll just have to watch this green reality face-off in August on Planet Green. http://planetgreen.discovery.com
