Lindsay Lohan's Eco-Fashion:
by Terri MacLeod on 06.24.08
...Lindsay Lohan dares to wear second-hand! Yup it's true. The reformed party girl wants to be ‘clean’ and ‘green.’ She’s kicked her habit (at least for the moment) of buying new designer duds for a more eco-statement with vintage threads. The actress is spotlighting recycled fashion as part of the UK’s Visa Swap campaign. The idea is to get folks to trade in their unwanted clothes and cutdown on future fashion purchases by buying second-hands gems instead.

Ringo Starr’s Birthday Wish:
...All Ringo Starr wants for his 68th birthday is “more peace & love.” The music icon told Access Hollywood he would love to see everyone, everywhere, wherever they are, at noon on July 7th make the peace and say “Peace & Love.” …So pass it on. And make Ringo’s mission a reality. “Let’s see if it works. I’m leaving it up to you,” reveals Ringo.

John Mayer’s Green Concerts:

Not that we need another reason to dig John Mayer -- but his eco efforts make him even more adorable. The singer is taking baby steps to make his concerts an earth-friendly event. For starters… his tour buses will be wind powered and use biodiesel fuel, concert swag will be eco-friendly, and there will be an eco-village at his venues to help educate his fans.
World’s Sexiest Vegetarian:
…The votes are in! It’s official – pop star Leona Lewis is the world’s sexiest vegetarian celebrity of 2008 – this according to PETA. The sexy British singer beat out other hot veggies, like Natalie Portman, Alicia Silverstone, and Christie Brinkley. “I am vegetarian so I don’t have clothes, shoes or bags made from leather or suede, or any animal products… I’m on a mission,” attests Leona.

Alicia Silverstone's Green Dog:

...She may not be the world's sexiest vegetarian (better luck next year), but Alicia is working to make her dog's world greener. This dedicated greenie told UK TV host Graham Norton she put her four dogs on a vegan diet. ...As a perk of the dogs' no-meat diet, Alicia swears, "They don't fart anymore." ...Just putting it out there!

Traffic whore!!! Death to celebrity crap news!!!!!!!!!!!
what is with the negativity?
People can be impressionable why not have a celebrity help set
the "green" trend.?
Who cares what Lindsey Lohan was?
what matters is Who she Is
and
If
She can turn over a new GREEN leaf and
LEAD others
Then good for her!
She has the power to do so !
.At least it is in the right direction.!
The glass is Half full! Isn't that what treehugger is about
what
WE can DO to change our circumstances?!
Thinking out loud again...

Please. Lindsay Lohan is buying vintage clothes because she doesn't have the money to buy designer anymore.
Rehab costs money y'all and she needs all the press she can get to stay relevent. I call greenwashing.
Greenwashing or not (admittedly, I think not) you must admit it is a positive message to send, and a good trend to start. Most celebrities, when their careers aren't doing so hot, end up on the surreal life or somesuch. At least Lindsay Lohan is doing something good with her actions.
Like it or not, people are impressionable and susceptible to what celebrities tell them. How do you think Oprah got so powerful? Why do you think people listen to who in Hollywood endorses which politicians? So why might as well praise the ones that use their powers for good. UNcle Owen from spiderman was right: with great power comes great responsibility. So if people choose celebrities as their heroes, and give them great power, we should support those who take on great responsibility.
However, dogs should NOT be on a vegan diet unless you have a vet working full time making sure they are getting proper nutrition. Dogs are designed to be carnivorous; as such their digestive tracts, like those of most carnivores, are pretty short. They derive much less nutrition from most plant based sources than a human would, so without careful planning of such a diet it would be easy to end up with a very sick dog.
Celebrities don't interest me, but if they help influence others even a little to go green I say whats the harm. It's better than influencing them to do other things like drugs and unsafe sex. That's my thought on it anyhow.
It is true that this is a great thing to do when you're career isn't going so well, far better than appearing on a reality show.
It may be unfair (not illogical) for me to call greenwashing so early in the game so I suppose we'll see how far she takes this.
I do agree that any persons of influence doing their part for the green movement is a great step in the right direction but I'd hate to see it used to revive a career, make more money, and buy designer clothes again.
I truely find it hard to believe that Lindsey is out of money, regardless of how much money rehab cost! She is still in any magazine you pick up in the check out line.
Going green is really caughting on in the celeb world, actually I'm suprised Lindsey just climbed aboard. But good for her!!!
I love this Peta ad with Alicia Silverstone professing her vegetarianism. How very eco-chic and cute and adorable that her dogs don't fart anymore since they've been on a vegan diet. That made me smile. I write eco-style blog Planet Pink n' Green - http://www.planetpinkngreen.com where we educate, inspire and celebrate all things eco-beautiful. This is definitely something I'll share with my readers. It's so very pink. --Cheryl Janis, writer of Planet Pink n' Green - http://www.planetpinkngreen.com , Twitter: PPnG
