CREEPY

Wow! That's creepy and great and effective!

jump to top Morgan Mghee says:

Well, it certainly succeeds at getting attention! Whoa, creepy indeed.

This ad won't play well with the global warming deniers and the evolution deniers.

jump to top stradric [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

Brilliant! Love it.

jump to top Esme says:

Alas, this is preaching to the choir. To those who don't believe the science on global warming or are simply unsure, this is going to come across as something between alarmism and witless science fiction. I think this sends the wrong message.

jump to top E.R. Dunhill says:

I agree with ER Dunhill...wrong message for those not part of the choir...it is kind of clever, but some people will take away the wrong message, so skip the cleverness, keep the messages pretty factual....DB

jump to top Dan Brockman says:

Wildlife is endangered by hunting, habitat destruction or encroachment, poisoning, pollution, traffic, etc, and the WWF is achieving zip. So what do you do when you fail to save creatures from tangible hazards? Find a new problem that you can’t possibly affect. That way you can continue to sit on your backside, pulling a nice paycheque and fake sadness when yet another species goes extinct.

I certainly won’t be giving money to a charity that’s only keeping advertising execs off the endangered species list.

Where's John Cena?

That guy looks more intelligent than the guy's who oppose subsidies for renewable energy.

Conserve, or all of your worst Lovecraftian nightmares will come true!

(Also, stay out of Innsmouth)

And what do you believe will? I don't think this is necessarily the greatest ad against global warming. But what more evidence is needed. Sadly George Bush & Co. have proved the power of triggering fear of personal harm to get people's support. OK, so reinforce the resolve of those who realize what's at stake and tweak the self preservation impulse of those who would prefer to hide their heads in the sand. Nothing will reach the deniers until catastrophe is at their door. After all we know, something like 24% of Americans still support Bush's Folly in Iraq. What's it going to take to reach them?

jump to top yrag says:

I have to weigh in with the "wrong message" crowd. Climate change might kill and displace tens or hundreds of millions of people in my lifetime, but it won't give anyone a fish's head (obviously no on who made the ad believed it would, but still it needs mentioning). Anyone who has not already realized how important global warming is and will be for our future, or doesn't know enough science to appreciate the fact, will not understand or be affected by this ad.

jump to top Anthony [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

I don't get it. Why would global warming change me into a fish? I think someone at WWF needs to learn how evolution works (if this is even about evolution)

jump to top Sam says:

"I don't get it. Why would global warming change me into a fish? I think someone at WWF needs to learn how evolution works (if this is even about evolution)"

I don't think they're really saying that's what would happen. It's just about rising sea levels.

jump to top Anonymous says:

While the ad is visually striking, it confuses time scales. It would take humans about 10 million years to look like that, but action to mitigate the effects of climate change needs to happen today.

I'm not really worried about the human species 10 million years from now. I am however, concerned about the next 20, 50, 100, 500 years.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GLOBAL WARMING!!
