Tomorrow Sunday, June 15th, the Dumbo Improvement District brings the Farm to DUMBO, Brooklyn! Buy farm-fresh foods at this brand new Farmers' Market at the entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park. The DUMBO Farmers’ Market will operate on Sundays from 11:00AM – 5:00PM, rain or shine, through mid-November. For the inaugural DUMBO Farmers’ Market, the Improvement District recruited Community Markets from Ossining, New York to secure a diverse assortment of farms.

Community Markets is an organization that believes strongly in three ideas: supporting local agriculture, strengthening local communities, and making fresh produce available to neighborhoods with limited access. For the DUMBO Farmers’ Market, Community Markets will bring farms featuring berries, fruits and vegetables. Fresh produce at the market will be complemented by pastries, handmade tortillas, specialty breads, barrel pickles, organic roasted nuts, maple syrup, honey and pasture raised meats. Other specialty items featured at the market on an occasional basis include hot sauce made in Brooklyn, Indian chutneys and hand-made soaps. Miriam Haas, director of Community Markets:

Community Markets is very excited to work with the Dumbo Improvement District to bring a farmers market to neighborhood. With the heightened interest in local foods, we hope that the community will come out and support the market. Whether they are picking up food for a picnic nearby or shopping to cook for family or friends later in the day, shoppers will find a good selection. The vendors are excited about coming to DUMBO too.

We sum it up thus: YUM!
