Pop Quiz: The White House, A GREEN House?
by Dominic Muren, Philadelphia, USA on 05. 8.08

Answer: A) Jimmy Carter
In 1979 Jimmy Carter had a solar water heater installed on the White House roof. It was a move designed to support Carter's solar institute, which he had "created to spearhead solar innovation." Unfortunately, once Ronald Reagan (who "viewed alternative energy with open scorn") made it into office, the solar water heater was removed, the budget for the solar institute was slashed, and tax credits were allowed to expire (in 1985).

I have a family of five, and typically 1-3 of us shower any given morning. April to October we use no gas to heat this water. It does not need to be at all warm, only clear during some of the day.
You forgot to mention that although President Bush is no friend of the environment, he did re-install a solar water heater in the white house in 2002.
I am appaled at the rate our earth is deteriorating! Does no one care that our earth is being destroyed?!?!? People get off you rcouch potatoe buts and help improve the condition of our earth!
That's like saying "you forgot to mention that Hitler signed a statement excusing several blonde, very Germanic Jews, and made them legally not Jews, thus saving them from the Holocaust."
Such details are anecdotal for good reason.
