Pop Quiz: Federal Bike Investigation
by Dominic Muren, Philadelphia, USA on 05. 1.08

Answer: B) 290,000
4.1% of the roughly 7,000,000 thefts reported every year by the FBI are bicycle thefts. However, this may not tell the full story, given that the National Bike Registry believes that only about one-third of all bicycle thefts are reported to the FBI. Under that scenario, the number of bike thefts every year would be well over one million. Given that the average value of a stolen bicycle is $318, that's a lot of lost money. And for anyone that has had their bike stolen, it's more than a blow to the wallet: it's demoralizing to have one's beloved bicycle stolen!

I would rather have my car stolen, than my bike.
police need to do a serius bait bike program like they do for cars.
-make the punishment the same as grand theft auto.
my bike costs more than most of my friends cars & motor bikes and should be treated at the very least equally.
