Photos of Rainbow Iceberg
by Michael Graham Richard, Gatineau, Canada on 05.16.08

It doesn't look real, but as far as we can tell, it is. The different layers are formed by algae (green) and sediments (yellow, brown), or by a rapid melting and freezing (dark blue).
This photos were taken by Oyvind Tangen, 62, a sailor on board the research ship G.O. Sars in the Antarctic ocean, and by Leif Nøttestad. ::The colored iceberg - the beauty of the Antarctic, ::A marbled iceberg, ::Rainbow iceberg in the Antarctic

Beautiful, isn't it?

Whoa, I didn't know such things even existed.
It does look a bit unreal, esp. on certain pics, but there are many natural reasons that could cause them to look like that..
The water of a different color around it might be explained by the fact that an iceberg is fresh water. Maybe some filter were used on the camera (polarizing?). Hard to say.
Looks like a giant piece of hard candy...
I certainly hope they are taking core samples.
Nature is so cool.
looks like some gigantic collaboration between Andy Goldsworthy and Christo!
maybe that's the next big thing in installation art, painting icebergs while they still exist...
Very cool image, never heard of such a thing myself.
hope this doesn't cause an environmental problem later
This is a grand sign for the upcoming age of humanity. I know that this is a sign. Ice triggers walks on water.
THE ICEBERG IS SO FLIPPIN AMAZING!!!!!
Beautiful. Let's ensure these wonders of our world continue to exist!
Are y'all sure this is for real?
That is all done in PhotoShop it is totally fake! look how "hard lined" the blue water is around it, You can really tell if you put it in photoshop....sloppy job.
