Greenpeace Breathe In, Breathe Out Video
by Michael Graham Richard, Gatineau, Canada on 05.21.08
It's not a new ad by Greenpeace, but it's beautiful and we've never featured it on TreeHugger before, so here it is.
The central message of the ad is quite important: oceans get too little credit for their oxygen production, as well as their capacity to absorb CO2. So the next time someone mentions tropical rainforests as "the lungs of the Earth", have a thought for poor forgotten phytoplanktons. That was very relaxing to hear and watch but what a pity we are trashing our oceans! Plastic trash, over fishing, pollution: it all stinks.
re: have a thought for poor forgotten phytoplanktons
This is a talk I transcribed by Adam Trombly of Project Earth
http://www.projectearth.com/
which altho based on the conference theme of Nikola Tesla, elucidates some very astute enviro implications:
"...what’s going to happen when the phytoplankton in the oceans die? They are the basis of the entire oceanic food chain. If you are not familiar with them, they are the little critters that actually made all this possible. This conference would not be occurring today without their sponsorship."

This video is very well done. The combination of time lapse and the breathing is very powerful, and it communicates the message well. Of course, the stunning visuals don't hurt either. Was this ad done internally by Greenpeace or is it user-generated content? Given the rise of social media and online video in the last few years, it is easier than ever these days to get people involved to help spread the word while expressing their creativity.

Always liked it.
...okay, as adding html tags seems to send your post to spam hell, let's try this again...
