I am reading Elsa's piece on News.com, "How to Green Your Life" and taking it to heart.
I'm not doing anything differently. But I did send out an e-mail yesterday to my colleagues with recommendations for greening the office.
Instead of driving, I walked to work this morning. My goal is to do that at least 3x/week.
I am planting fruit trees:)
I got some free shrubbery from work. (It was a special giveaway event -- I didn't just shovel and run.) Tried to pick up a free tote bag at Home Depot, but they apparently missed that memo from corporate.
I got some free shrubbery from work (as a sanctioned Earth Day event, not with a shovel at midnight). Also, I discovered that Home Depot is just kidding about their whole free reusable Earth Day tote bag promotion. So much for reducing 136,411,024 pounds of CO2 per year. I think their lofty claim needs a wiki-style [citation needed] flag.
Shopping for a low-flow showerhead, just because I'm remodeling the bathroom anyway.
But yeah, it's always E-Day for me, every freakin' day.
I am making a poster with the kids from my kid's school. We took the contents of their trash and are sorting it to see what is recyclable, what is reusable, what is compostable, and what is actually trash. (I washed it first)
I am not using my car
I am blogging about earth day on my web site.
I a writing a class on green interior design that I will give this Wednesday at my local Adult School.
I am running a Walking School Bus getting groups of kids to walk to school together, so they feel safe.
I hope to have time to plant some sunflowers.
So I am doing one thing different, I am not using my car.
I wish I could do more...................
Just another day in my solar and micro-hydro powered off-grid office.
Since it got nice out about a couple weeks ago I've been riding my bike to twice once a weel (its a 10 mile ride one way, that's all I can handle for now).
and the last couple days I've been trying to get my scooter fixed so I can ride that instead of taking a car.
I actually totally forgot about Earth day, these are just things I'd be doing anyway. I'm trying to ween myself off the automobile.
I'm in the process of increasing the fuel mileage of a recycled 1992 Aerostar, which already averages more than most vehicles on the road at 19.1 mpg, from the average to expected 31 to 31 mpg city driving.
Rode my bike in to work today! 5 miles, but it was pretty easy. I will do it again after the soreness subsides.
Every day is Earth Day for me but I just signed up to invest 100% of my electric bill to green power initiatives ;0)
I watched Laura Bush on the Today Show.
Nothing to celebrate this day. Don't think it is necessary as global warming is a farce. As a matter of fact, over the next 10 days my wife and I are driving over 2000 miles on our vacation.
This Earth Day I am working to raise awarness of problems with the Columbia cut flower industry.
One thing to note is the connection between the health of our world and the health of people around the world. For example, much pesticide is used in Columbia on flower crops. This is terrible for the environment, but also it is making the people who cut the flowers ill. I encourage everyone to take a look at the short film "Poisoned Flowers" at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2hTTkr2KuQ
With the Columbia Trade Promotion Agreement pending in Congress, there could not be a better time to look at Columbia's environmental (and human rights) record. We need people to speak up for the planet and for our fellow humans in the Global South.
This is why Fair Trade Certified Flowers are so important. To learn more about the Fairness in Flowers campaign or to make a donation, click my name
Thanks everybody! Have a great Earth Day!
While earth day should be every day for everyone, I think everyone still could make a larger effort on earth day.
I did my part by not driving a car, and riding my unicycle 20 miles to work. Of course, I still have a 20 mile ride waiting for me on the way home...with more hills!

Everyday is Earth day for me. My family and I recycle, use our own bags when we shop, eat only organic food...so to make today a little more special I spent the last week telling my 5 yr-old what today's all about and we're planting a rose bush tonight in honor of my grandmother and Earth day.
I composted some corn shucks. Actually, I'm doing nothing different, but I did through some corn shucks onto the compost pile :).
I have set up a board in work to let everyone know that it is Earth Day today. I also printed up some ways to help the earth and recycle. I put it in an envelope and labeled it saying to take one to keep. Also that Arbor Day is Friday.
At my school we just held a big festival called Ecofest with tabling, speakers on the electric car, climate change and mass transit, and bands tonight.
It was a lot of organization that went into it but unfortunately my school is pretty apathetic; hopefully the people who walked by came away with something.
just the fact that Earth Day has made it to most generic calendars is huge in a culture that continues to value immediate gratification over long term cause and effect. It would be a big mistake to dismiss the efforts it has taken us to come this far. But I didn't remember that today is the day and came to your site by links in search of info on sustainable house design. Yes, every day is Earth Day for me but I regret that I am often obliged to be compromised by the choices available to me. Each of us must be the grain of sand that tips the balance back to a healthy, loving and respectful planet.

i am buying a bike, an eco friendly water bottle and planting flowers :)
Kettering Ohio is going to pull out good healthy trees that are appox 15 years old on Southern Blvd to plant new trees that have a different color of leaves so when people drive down the street it will be more colorfull
Hand washing my daughters cloth diapers
Found about earth day too late, and seem to be the only person aware of it's existence around here. Unfortunately I tend to plan ahead too much, then forget&fail to implement anything in time. I think recently everyday should be a non-erath day, but instead we should remember that little things usually bundle up to great results.
Mom used to say "a little in a day - a lot in a week!", and I believe it is true.
Trying too much too fast is overwhelming people and they tend to react negatively. I SEE THIS EVERYDAY. Please, subtle changes, yet reaching our planet's DEADline.
