StreetFilms Looks at Bus Rapid Transit in LA
by Sami Grover, Carrboro, NC, USA on 04.14.08
LA isn't exactly known as the most transit-friendly city in the world. Built around the motorcar, and lacking the density of cities like New York or Washington DC, it's hard to imagine how Los Angeles can remedy this situation either. However, if this video from the ever-productive StreetFilms is anything to go by, then they are certainly trying. While the focus of the video is on the new Bus Rapid Transit lines, we're encouraged to see BRT discussed as an evolutionary step towards light rail, and as an integrated part of a wider transit strategy that involves bikeways, rail, and more mixed-use development. And for more glorious StreetFilms, check out their offerings on raised cross-walks, chicanes, cycling heroes and even cycling sasquatches.

Gee it is almost as if they want to evolve into a new city, one that is mixed use, walkable, excellent rail based public transit and extol the virtues of high density living.
