Green Pyjama Jobs: Dutch Student Gets Rich Staying In Bed

There was a funny Joy of Tech comic a few weeks back about the guy who had an "environmentally friendly day" by staying in bed and not using up earth's precious resources. He plans to survive by selling carbon offsets to people who will pay him to stay in bed.
Now a student in the Netherlands is actually doing it. Yde Van Deutekom, 22, from Zoetermeer, is selling advertising on a website featuring a webcam showing him in bed. He says ""Sleeping is just a hobby of me, and it is the only thing I'm very good at. Everyone is asking what I want to do with me life, but what I really want to do is sleep. I stay in bed all day, except for taking a shower, going to the bathroom and making something to eat. That's all I want to do. And I want to stay in bed until I'm very rich."
Mr. Van Deutekom has already earned £3,500 in 21 days from advertising on the site. Now that is what I call a green pyjama job. ::Splurch

He seems to have sold the advertising pretty well.
I guess he's one of the few people who can say I won't get out of bed for less than $... and mean it!
I can´t believe he is doing this and people are paying for that! Ridiculous!
Great idea! Lets pay people to do nothing! The US government has done a great job with this already by paying farmers not to grow more crops. The government is just trying to reduce emissions that way.
We should all give the homeless lots of money for doing such a great job keeping their carbon footprint small. Next time you see someone sleeping on the street thank them for not using precious resources

This is ridiculous. It would probably be better for the earth if he planted and tended to a garden rather than sit around in bed all day. It was a funny comic but it is a pathetic life.
This is so hilarious! I am normally really adamant against falsely capitalizing on all things Green, carbon credits usually included, but this is just too brilliant. I'm jealous of the kid!
Although it won't really work, even logically, if he divvies up credits to too many people, so he won't actually get rich. And he's still eating food, using electricity, and using water to take showers and flush the toilet, so he's still utilizing the primary ways that people use up energy outside of cars and the like. But still, it's a pretty brilliant idea if you ask me.
i actually wish i thought of this first!! bt still as terra said, he's still using up earth's primary resources, so he's not exactly conserving 'em anyways, lets see how long he''ll keep this up.....goodluck!
p.s. is there anyway we can access the site in english, i dont understand a word of what he's saying ,thanx.
Not to mention his webcam is on all day....so he's using electricity 24/7!!
I just hope insomnia doesn't kick in with the kid.
