Andy Revkin on Geoengineering

Andy Revkin of the New York Times is a glutton for punishment; perhaps it's a Lent thing. Last week he was attacked in Huffpo for giving comfort to the enemy at the deniers convention in New York and this week he has the temerity to ask opponents of geoengineering: "Why not at least explore (and test on reasonable scales) such options. If you take the threats of global warming as seriously as you say, why not at least pursue some work on this kind of backstop even as work on mitigating emissions continues?" He also offers up this completely inane video that actually does a good job of explaining various geoengineering ideas, from Mike's favourite giant mirrors in space to John's seeding the ocean with iron filings. ::Dot Earth
