A Picture is Worth... Elephant Having Fun

At the risk of anthropomorphizing it too much, we'd say that this looks like one happy elephant!

Update: Apparently it's a Disney statue in Florida. Had me fooled. Still cute, though.

it's a statue

jump to top ashes says:

Except its not a real elephant. That's a Disney Elephant at the Magic Kingdom in Orlando, FL

jump to top Dan says:

Of course he's happy, he's a statue of a happy elephant at Disney World.

jump to top Buckethead says:

oh, my gosh! that is soooo cute! i LOVE elephants, and this one DEFINETLY looks happy!

jump to top liz [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

Read the comments. It's a sculpture, not an actual elephant.

jump to top Terra Verde says:

Of course it looks like it is having fun . . . because it's audioanimatronic - ie. fake. This is one of the elephants on Disney World's Jungle Boat ride. Why is treehugger posting this?

"ed: Not everybody has been to Florida ;)"

Yeah, but everybody obviously had the foresight to check the comments in the place where you got this first. You guys never check anything you post anymore. Wrong dates, wrong info, telling us stuff is new when it's from five years ago, posting pictures of statues and telling us they're elephants. There's a ball you fell off of somewhere XD

jump to top Terra Verde says:

Treehugger has jumped the shark.

jump to top Jared says:

to the ^ commenters, you guys are funny. OMG, it's the end of the world! Someone didn't realize it was a statue, so western civilization must end!

Stop trying so hard to be offended. It is a cute elephant. If it had been real this would have been awesome. Now it's too bad, but nothing more.

jump to top Anonymous says:

Of course its a statue, an elephant in captivity wouldn't be that happy.

jump to top outdoor gear [TypeKey Profile Page] says:

Relax people.... besides, how do we know it's not the happy robo-elephant from Disneyland in CA?

jump to top Michael Svcheuermann says:

I actually found this posting scary, almost apocalyptic. There may be a time in the future in when all we have left are animatronic elephants. Posing with their plastic smiles while children stare and laugh...completely oblivious to the fact that this once was a real creature.

jump to top John Stevens says:

Wow...I didn't know it was a statue. I forewarded it to all my friends. Don't I look dumb(er).

It's a damn well-done statue, if I do say so.

jump to top rob says:

This is fake but I have seen an elephant smile.

This particular one was a large baby chained to a stake in a zoo in India being subjected to a water hose bath.

Each time the jet hit its neck it would smile and shift about as if tickled.

jump to top raj says:

Wow, John Stevens. Philip K. Dick would be proud.

jump to top MM says:

Wow. Being a Disneyland Annual Pass Holder, I knew with a single second glance this was an anamatronic from Disneyland's Jungle Cruise ride. Hasn't everyone been to Disneyland/World?? It looks more real in this picture then in reality however.

Also, I love what John Stevens had to say. It probably is a sad truth.
