Cool Planet Jewelry to Stop Global Warming
by Jasmin Malik Chua, Jersey City, USA on 03.19.08

Branded with the logo of Laurie David's Stop Global Warming movement, Cool Planet Jewelry's accessories are a subtle way of displaying your dedication to battling climate change. (In case you forget, StopGlobalWarming.org is emblazoned on the back of each charm.)
The cheesecake shot of actress/reality-television star Kristin Cavallari on the site's homepage may make us wince, but we like the fact that recycled precious metals are used in the jewelry, as well as how 50 percent of all net proceeds are donated to Stop Global Warming and the Natural Resources Defense Council. Both ladies and gents get a variety of styles to choose from, so you can declare your cause on a necklace, bracelet, lapel pin, or cuff links. Each piece comes in a hemp drawstring pouch. Prices start at $30 for a sterling-silver charm. ::Cool Planet Jewelry

Oh yay, yet another doohickey that I don't need to buy. How exactly does me buying this thing stop global warming? Sure, they donate 50% of the 'net proceeds' (which, I suspect is a lot less than 50% of retail) to somebody. I think a better way to advertise your dedication to the cause would be to show up on a bicycle, rather than driving to the store to buy one of these pins.
we all condused!!!!i cannot agree more with the above!!!!save earth ,save yourself! i believe you can drop every decoration on you!!!!haha ,if you want some real natural ones, you can find from http://www.madeinchina.com !
Let's not count on consumerism to help global warming, seriously. I'll put my money towards buying gadets that allow my to use less energy rather than wasting it on this.
I take it from the above comments that using recycled materials, developing eco-friendly manufacturing techniques, transparent responsible business practices, renewable energy sources, and attempting to spread concern and education regarding green issues are meaningless exercises to be met with condescension (equal measure cynicism) because a product is being sold?
I love it. So, walk the talk and write a check (now) to stopglobalwarming.org or the Natural Resources Defense Council or any other green group large or small and help. Better yet organize a new group yourself and further the discussion. DO something (constructive) and make a difference.
