Last year, Jamais Cascio had a big hit with his carbon footprint of a cheeseburger. Here is a Six Degrees video with Cascio explaining his research. They also have him runs around with a clipboard, a ruler and there's a latex glove scene that is quite priceless. Check it out!
Some trivia: There's a scene where it appears that Jamais is taking a bite in a burger, but that's not him. ::Open the Future, ::TreeHugger Radio 15: Breaking Down the Burger and the Cloned Cow, ::Jamais Cascio on the Carbon Footprint of the American Cheeseburger (Audio)

Jamais Cascio's calculation of the carbon footprint of a cheeseburger is intriguing. I would, however, be interested to know whether, for example, whilst calculating the methane production or feeding requirements of cattle, whether the myriad of other cattle by-products was also taken into account? e.g. cattle products include leather, bone meal, gelatin etc etc. The carbon footprint of each cow must be divided up amongst these other products as well. Same goes for transportation where a truck may transport more than just beefburger patties in one shipment.
