Human Cheese, Sweet and Tangy
by Christine Lepisto, Berlin on 02. 9.08
So this is what it has come to, the only place left to turn in a world awash in chemicals masquerading as food: "Human dairy, the taste of mother's love." Human Cheese is made fresh from human breast milk, which you can verify yourself because the video shows you the source. Equally important, in the new social enterprise, Human Cheese is manufactured by "excited employees that live fulfilling lives." This send-up of the new greenwashing trend in advertising will give you a good belly-laugh, if you don't pause to consider the tragic fact that even human milk is not free from chemical contamination.
Watch out Wisconsin, human cheese is gaining market share, enjoyed by husbands and children for it's "sweet and tangy" taste. This brings a whole new angle to the 100 mile diet! For those who are grossed out, and that seems to be the intention of the video's creator, there is also "I can't believe it's not human".
We wonder if you can make ethanol from Human Cheese? Or try it in the TreeHugger recipe of the week, cheese & pepper bread?

ewww
um.... yeah. thanks, time to go powerwash the inside of my skull.
HAHAHA!
I love that people are grossed out by this but not by eating products made out of the breast milk of other species.
Cool video. I have bookmarked the post and have added the video to my favorites.

I imagine it's because it's their own species. Unless you aren't grossed out by having some leg of Ted.
Either that or the whole mother psychology thing.
Unfortuantely, I don't think you can actually do it. I think breast milk doesn't have enough protein. You might be able to make a blend though.
this is funny, but i think it takes to a level deeper than satirizing greenwashing, or even mormons. George Monbiot once said something along the lines of : one day, when we have exhausted our natural resources, humans will be seen as the only remaining commodity.
I dont think that it will be a market success though the idea is good.
My son seemed to be just fine on a diet of mother's milk and the occasional yogurt and cereal for his first 14 months. I'm sure it doesn't taste as good as Brie though.
When my wife was pumping, we often talked about making cheese, but never did. One problem is the yield is so low- you only get a few ounces a day, and we could never spare enough to throw a bunch away experimenting like that. I'm not sure how good it would be in cheese anyway- breastmilk is very, very sweet, and really thin. It's almost like sweetened rice milk.
Google tells us the story of someone who tried:

Apparently you can't make simple paneer-style cheese out of breastmilk because the acid doesn't cause it to curdle so you can separate the curds from the whey. Maybe rennet would work better?
All they need to do is put a sexy enough girl on the cover and we've gone from "eww" to "Kinky!"
Honestly I've been boggled for some time now that no one has tried to market human breast milk before.
I love all the "ew" reactions, like it's so much less gross to be drinking molded breast milk from a different species... *sigh*
This reminds me of that unaired P**A "got milk" Superbowl commercial...
So milk from the breasts (udders) of cows and goats is okay, but this isn't? I'll tell ya'll what I tell my kids, don't turn your noses up until you at least try it. :)
When my daughter was born I had such an abundance of breast milk it was poring out by the minutes. I considered donating the milk not used by my daughter to mother's unable to breast feed or abandoned babys. But, I don't think I could drink or eat another person's breast milk. Just the thought gags me. Maybe my own milk if absolutely necessary. But, if other's are more adventurous then I, then more power to em'.
...this is a joke, right?
unfortunately im going to have to also dash people's hopes of making or purchasing their own human milk cheese. such a thing just isn't possible because of the make up of breastmilk.
bummer.
I am amazed at people's ignorance about food. Cheese is made from fat mainly, not protein. However, as my four children were breastfed for a total of 15 years and are healthiy adults now, I know it has all the essential nutrients.
Although I'd probably stick to soy or rice, I think it's so funny that humans find it weird to drink what another human's body produces for it's species. Instead people go and drink milks (cow's, goat's) that this animal has made to nourish it's babies it's own species.
Babies who are breast feed get plenty protein and are well fed.
Um, I'd say it's pretty natural to be grossed out by drinking human breast milk and not cow breast milk. Not unlike the way I wouldn't bat an eye if you said you ate cow meat, but I would seriously question you if you told me you ate human meat. Some things are taboo, okay, and human breast milk is for babies.
I couldn't decide if this was hilarious or vomitous, precisely for that reason.
It's one thing to 'try/drink' your own when you are breast feeding your own babies, but even though I would try most things, eating cheese made from sombody elses breast milk, sorry that would definately NOT be for me....
I found the whole thing very funny.
On a more serious note given that human body fat contains a disgustingly wide spectrum of un-natural chemicals, courtesy of our devoted chemical industry you have to wonder about human milk as well.
Finally...
Got milk?
Fun fun fun

... Um... You Can't be serious about this... I just got done eating a Grilled Cheese Sandwich... I shouldn't have came to this website, trying to learn about how cheese affects the human body... Not I calearly See. LOL
:)
ladYt.
Yes, cheese has lots of fat but that's not how it becomes cheese. The cheese making part involves the rearrangement of *proteins* by rennet or acid. The cheese curds come from the reaction of the protein molecules.
Human breast milk is THE best food for human babies.
But cheese from breast milk--that's just gross, and probably impossible. There's a reason we don't refer to animal udders as "breasts." Eww, there's a revolting mental picture LOL!
I love Human Cheese,..
My moms been makin it for us for years..
