Xambox Scans And Files

We recently extolled the virtues of the paperless home, but some people have to keep the paper for legal and tax reasons. Back in the early days of the computer, our daisy wheel printer spit out three copies of every letter: one for the client, one for the job file, and one for the continuous file where everything was stuck on a clipboard by date.

Having evolved past that, we still have a file cabinet for every bill, statement and item of correspondence, and it takes time to put it all away. Wasted time if you have a Xambox.

This baby does what the old continuous file did: it stacks the documents by date after it scans, makes a PDF and turns it into text. It stores the original document in a box, and when you need to recover it, you are told where it is: "Your invoice is located in tray 2, 7th page past the green divider." So you never have to file again.

Of course such a system eliminates file cabinets, hanging folders, file folders, and replaces them with just the documents that you need when the SEC and IRS come calling. ::Xambox in French; you can download an English PDF here. via ::Web Worker Daily

Is a concept or an existing product?

Hey,

Thanks for your post, actually, this product does exist, we started to sell it a weeks ago, and already are out of stock, new production should arrive soon :)
So far, we have a bunch of resellers in France and Africa, no one yet in the US, but we are looking for some ;-)

There's already a English fact sheet http://xamance.fr/IMG/pdf/Retrouver_ses_papiers_instantannement_GB.pdf
and a video online:http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=JhNiOgBbhCY

PS: The English version of the website should be online within a few days :-)

Can you post any information on pricing for the US market as well (I realize you're still looking for resellers), but I'd love to know this information? Also, how close is the product to being ready for US distribution (software, hardware, etc.) as far as time is concerned?

I haven't been this excited about a product in a very long time and I'm seeing the end of our dreaded file cabinet, plus being able to search things we don't keep ourselves normally and being able to research data easily and quickly.

After a review on GeekBrief.TV, I've been drooling to get it here in the US. I don't think you'll have any problems with distribution here. Get it ready for United States sales and I think you'll have a winner, provided that supplies keep the price reasonable for home/home office use in particular. If you want to up the price, charge for the software licenses for use on multiple office computers. Please don't make the supplies outrageously priced.

Thanks for your feedback and an ingenious integration of mostly existing technology, with a new software product for managing/searching the documents!

Best Wishes,
Jim

For Thomas (from Xamance):

Questions --
1) What type of pricing do you have set for the US market (both for the device/software and supplies, such as dividers and boxes)?;

2) How close are you to completing the US version of the XamBox (both as far as software conversion, changes in hardware, etc.) and when might it be ready for US sales?

Comments --
1) You have an incredible idea here. Although it's just the integration of existing technologies (scanning, OCR, etc.), with the addition of integrating software to allow the whole idea to work, it's had me excited since I saw a mention on GeekBrief,TV! I am a home user, but my wife is going crazy thinking of ways it would be useful in her small office environment. As far as resellers, Amazon, Buy,com, and BestBuy would be obvious ones, but distribution would need to be Ingram and TechData, but there are others -- approach them yourself;

2) Please keep the pricing reasonable all-around for single-user environments, especially the consumables, like the dividers and boxes (if you sell them). In my opinion, the best way to get revenue is from sales of multiple software licenses and extra XamBoxes for office environments. You'll kill the possibility of using it in homes and home offices if the XamBox and its consumables cost too much, including leaving me out. I want this product badly, but if the cost is ridiculous (especially for the consumables), I won't be able to get it, even though I want to go paperless almost completely in our home office (which just is for running the household, so to speak). I have had a lot of ways to get rid of almost everything in our filing cabinet, and having the tools to access the information quickly would be a dream (which didn't exist until I heard about the XamBox).

Thanks for a great idea, and if you need US beta testers, please count me in. Just let me know here how to contact you to provide you with a contact e-mail address. I can't say I've been this excited about any idea in probably about five years. I've said "oh, neat" a lot, but nothing like this for a long, long time.

Best Wishes,
Jim

Hello All!

I noticed that the English version of their website is now available at:

http://www.xamance.fr/?lang=en

I hoping for a reply from them here with more information for the US market!

I would like to suggest an alternative or complimentary approach.

Using a new software which allow scanning and managing your all documents collection using tags - and this is a big change. multipage handling and pdf conversion are included.

The sw costs 20$ and can turn your existing scanner to a great solution.

Hey,

Here we are, the website is in English, it's translation time those days since we are transmlating some doc in German also to get ready for the CeBIT next month.

So, let me get back to your questions:
* PRICE: dealers sell the Xambox at 1690€ in France, we have resellers in Western Africa also, nobody yet in the UK :(. IF you are from an other country, please be sure that we are building our distribution network. Meanwhile, you can get a Xambox from us. contact me then at info_at_xamance.fr.
* amoung advantages, the Xambox rotates, remanes, tags, sorts automatically, the onlything the user has to do is press a button :)
* And yes, we are looking for resellers in the US and other countries, feel free to contact me if you are interested!

Regards,

Thomas
