The Year Ahead With Bill Mott

250_Bill%20Summer%2006.jpg Who: Bill Mott, director of the Ocean Project, a Rhode Island-based non-profit that helps hundreds of zoos, museums, aquariums, and conservation organizations worldwide educate millions of visitors about protecting and conserving the oceans.

Eco-resolution: To constantly rethink business as usual on the work front, particularly as relates to sustainability, including consciously flying fewer times for work, buying an office bike for doing errands and that interns can use throughout the year for getting to and from our office, to strive toward a paperless office, and to make time for our small team of staff and interns to get out from behind our computers and explore our beautiful Blackstone River
Valley and Narragansett Bay watershed.

Outlook for '08: Fresh winds will blow strongly this year, with the 2008 presidential elections bringing significant—and needed—change related to leadership on climate change. We will soon have a president who “gets it,” reprioritizes, and brings on Al Gore as the next secretary of state to make battling climate change and environmental sustainability (including protecting and conserving our world ocean, of course!) the top global priority.
