OK so who said what?
This is rigged. Hillary's is the most appealing quotation of them all-- and yet she's so clearly a corporatist that I think it's more than apparent she's not going to do anything to cause any real change. And Obama's idea of fighting global warming is taking money from the nuclear power industry and adopting a pro-nuke power platform.
That leaves Kuchinch, Gravel and Edwards. Of all the candidates, Edwards is the best. You know... people make a big deal about Hillary's gender and Obama's race... but the candidate with the least white-male-esque platform of the three democractic front runners is Edwards. It's time for people to start recognizing that.
LA: it was not intentionally rigged. I searched for the best quote I could find from each candidate and your favorite delivered a lousy quote.
Gravel is the best candidate for any issue, regardless of your opinion. This is for one reason: The National Initiative.
The National Initiative is Gravel's idea for reforming our corrupt, broken democracy. He is the only candidate - hell, one of the only Americans - with a real plan for fixing the system in Washington that is so often called "broken."
The National Initiative empowers people to legislate. It essentially offers the general population a certain degree of control in both the legislative and executive branches of government. People can introduce legislation that Congress will later vote on (but it has to be voted on by the people first), and if enough people vote for a bill introduced by a citizen, that bill can be passed directly into law.
While this might sound radical, there are systems like it in many states already, just nothing at the national level.

Oh, c'mon Loyd. If you're being serious that you did your best, you should hang up the keyboard now and get out of the blog gig. This is the statement Edwards delivered on earthday, for example. Why not use the quote about creating more jobs in the survey?
"Global warming is an emergency that requires all of us to take action today. Without action, the coming decades will bring droughts, forest fires, and deadly heat waves. Global warming also threatens our national security - from worldwide conflicts over food, water, disease, and famine to instability here at home if droughts in Mexico cause large numbers of refugees, climate change has the potential to ignite a chain reaction of global instability.
"But this looming crisis also presents a great opportunity for America - we can stop global warming and launch a new energy economy at the same time, creating more than a million new jobs. To do that, we need to act now and adopt science-based caps on carbon emissions. We must cap global warming pollutants now, reducing pollution by 15 percent by 2020 and by 80 percent by 2050.
"We can't wait for somebody else to do this. Each of us can take responsibility in small ways to make a big difference. I encourage every American to do their part to conserve energy and fight global warming, not only on Earth Day, but every day. If we have the courage to act, we can lead the world toward clean, renewable energies and make America stronger still."
LA: well I am not hanging up the keyboard yet. I missed these (using grist's wonderful fact sheets as my source) and had I seen them would have used them.
"The Battle of the Sound Bites with Earth in the Balance" Donncha just luv Washington Theater
Could we get a poll system that let's us see current results without first placing a vote?
OK, that was stupid. 1/2 the quotes say practically the same thing, and even after I voted it still didn't tell me who said what.
Yeah, I'm still wondering who said what.
