For anyone who doesn't have Superman vision, the text from this striking image says: "Don’t let this be our future. Save our rainforest, stop global warming".

The poster, for Regional Environmental Awareness, was painted straight on the tiles of pool. ::Osocio via ::WorldChanging

cant stop global warming.

Marine2171 has it right. We can't stop global warming. We can minimize the human impact on it, but it would take a seriously self-important human ego to believe that humans have control of the planet. I understand the point the artist was trying to make, but I think a more accurate message communicates more effectively to more people.

When you say, "Stop global warming" you are asking for something that can't be done...so people quit listening. Change the message to something like "Minimize your impact of global warming." You make a more accurate request and your message gets through. When environmentalists ask for the impossible, they not only alienate those who didn't care in the first place...they also alienate those who are well informed and concerned.

Here's the thing. Imagine a glass of water with ice cubes in it-- just enough ice cubes that the water is at the very rim of the glass. Now, as the ice melts, what happens to the water? It doesn't overflow; the ice, a solid shape, takes up more room than the water of which it is made! As the ice melts, the water will recede from the top of the glass. (Arguably, this makes the idea of global warming scarier, but the planet has actually been cooling off since the early-mid 20th century.)

Johnny, there are significantly large glaciers on LAND (Greenland. Antarctica) - you know, ice that's not floating in the ocean... yet. Not all nor even a majority of the ice cubes are in the ocean yet.

Actually water reaches its greatest volume just above freezing at about 3'C I think? I like the I might be drowning implication inherent in the application. Is it a poster or sticker type of display?

Everytime I read these posts it's like a big pissing contest of who can out green the next guy. For peets sake, can we thank american companies for starting to do something about it instead of correcting their ad compaign. I went grocery shopping the other day (organic grocery chain) and I had to get a product by product comment on everything I was going to buy. " SOY MILK! Are you nuts? Soy milk contains toxins, I mean tofu that is fine. Tofu has been processed enough that it doesn't contain the toxins that...blah...blah...etc.. but the process to form tofu creates... gas emission...blah, blah...Nan bread, we have that in gluten free you know... we have the free game chicken too, they hand feed and pet them everyday so they are happy, that is if you have to eat meat, it's better to go vegetarian, but stay away from the Soy. They make good rice by products but it depends on your daily carb intake...."

I have an idea, why don't we all sit naked in a field of grass and eat dirt, would that make us green enough, would that work for everyone?
