UK Police Test Vectrix Electric Scooter

by Sami Grover, Carrboro, NC, USA on 12.24.07
Cars & Transportation (bikes)

Vectrix%20police.jpgWe’ve been pretty excited about the high-performance Vectrix electric scooter since we first laid eyes on it. We’ve been even more excited to see it move from drawing board to actual road use. Now we hear from London Bikers that police in Hampshire, UK, are going to be testing two Vectrix scooters as part of their day-to-day operations, and if the trials prove successful, the vehicle could be adopted as an alternative to petrol-driven bikes for police forces across the country. As with police on bicycles, the logic of silent, emission free transport options makes a lot of sense for law enforcement agencies – both in terms of running costs, and sneaking up on villains unnoticed. And adoption of high-tech emission free vehicles should bode well for the rest of us, as economies of scale allow for cheaper models to reach the general public. We look forward to seeing how the Vectrix performs for the boys in blue. ::Vectrix::via London Bikers::via EV-UK::

I am very happy to see this. I am saving up money to buy one of the Vectrix 2 wheelers. Considering the police bikes are in no dire need for speeds over 60 Miles/Hr (They can always call in other vehicles - i think; being in America, I believe they have similar squad cars for any possible road chases), I think that these bikes, with a very affordable price, can be put to good use for the blue. I am in love with this bike, and being a college student saving money, this is looking to be a couple years of saving, but definitely worth the wait. I hope to see this vehicle used worldwide. Especially since you can use it in inner city (gas restricted) zones.

I bought one of these scooters in October, after reading some case studies on the Vectrix website, of actual customers in this country. I bought a vectrix, without test riding. The price was a reason for not buying a vectrix, but i actually saved money and bought a demo with only 300 miles. My last bike was a new yamaha R6 and it is as much fun, but nearly free to run as well as being CO2 free.
I would recommend a vectric and you can contact me if you want a test drive 01726 69307.
