Pop some organic bubbly for this corker of a story. French scientists have hit upon the greenest Christmas menu on the planet: A delectable pairing of truffles (the fungus, not the chocolate) and champagne.
"Champagne is the ideal ecological ingredient," Barbara Redlingshöfer, researcher at the ecology-society wing of Inserm, France's agricultural research institute, told The Telegraph. "It is stocked in glass bottles that can be easily recycled—the only problem being the cardboard crates that carry them. "
With barely any ecological side effects, truffles are described as the "perfect organic produce." Whether they're economically sustainable, on the other hand, is a whole 'nother matter. Bottoms up! ::The Telegraph

greener than not buying anything new to wear, cooking at home and have some good friends over to play some old board games at some candle light and open sparking wine that is been kept in the basement since that party, yes that one we dont talk about it? nah I dont think so.
since when buying and even more, buying truffles and champagne is environmentally friendly. Green has become so..... darn.... green.
Yeah, glass bottles may be recyclable but they are heavy, fragile, and difficult to seal. That means poor fuel economy to ship, lost and wasted product. What is green about that?
That said, sounds like a pretty reasonably holiday meal to me!!

Well, sometimes you still don't have that bottle of bubbly that's been laying around, and you might need a little libation for you and your friends...then it's good to know what the preferable choice is.
Granted, I could brew some tea and turn it into homemade soda pop, but only if I get 2-4 days notice.
