How to Convince Your Fussy Baby to Eat Their Organic Greens With a Smile

The answer to this riddle, in a word, is good old-fashioned persistence. At least that's according to a recent study which indicates that if you persistently show kids the veggies, they will eat them. In fact, the study shows that babies as young as 4 months old will even eat green beans after a few tries.

Because according to researchers, they've found the more green beans the babies saw the more likely they were to eat them and eventually enjoy them, even when given the choice of something sweet to eat instead, like peaches.

The study’s authors also suggest that parents focus not only on children's facial expressions when eating new foods, but on their willingness to continue eating.

Of course whether or not they’re munching greens that are organic is up to you…

ummmm, sure but i don't think babies as YOUNG as 4 months old should be eating anything but breast milk....

Yep... with a 4 month old at home myself that's what I thought...

But I didn't do the study, so I felt it fair to report what they discovered.

And for the record, little Bobby is just getting breast milk for the moment.

A technique that worked with our kids: When introducing solid foods, start with veggies for several weeks. Once the kids are used to eating several different kinds, then introduce fruit. That way they haven't gotten used to sweet tastes first.

elsewhere this week a similar study was announced.

it found that mothers can actually accustom their babies to vegetables through pregnancy and breastfeeding, if the mothers themselves eat their own vegetables. children are then less likely to reject vegetables when they move on to solid food.

i breastfed all three of my kids until 13-15 months, and i love veggies, and they love veggies. . . my meaning is, i think the study mentioned by john m may be right, or else my super smart kids just like their veggies because they taste good. either way, they are smart, healthy, happy kids.
