Clevr: Hang Your Dishes Out to Dry
by Collin Dunn, Corvallis, OR, USA on 12. 5.07

It's a bummer that you have to fight for your right to line-dry your laundry, but at least you can stick it to your local municipality with something like these clever line-dryable dishes. "Cuelgame," conceived by Spanish designers Marc Ballve and Victor Vinyamatavia, helps save precious kitchen counter space by encouraging users to dry their dishes with the help of a warm summer breeze. And without that pesky alleged lower property value that can stupidly accompany dangling your undies from the line.
In all seriousness, this is a fun, clever, artful space-saving proposition, with tongue slightly implanted in cheek. If you don't want to reuse the water from your clean dishes, and have run out of space for a modular, space-efficient dish rack, why not let your dishes pick up the space-saving slack? This is a really neat design. I'm not sure about hanging dishes outdoors, but I like the concept of hanging them from the cabinet handles.
Really cool one!
Yeah, if it's outdoors, maybe there's a way to keep a gust of wind from kickin' their butt? GREAT idea.
This is one of the smartest kitchen thingies I saw in a long, long time. You know the pyramids of plates and you want the one at the bottom? Stack them horizontally and you have access to all sizes, and can even put stuff under the smaller plates, brilliant!
Years ago, I nailed a couple of 1x3's to the cabinets above my kitchen sink to support my dish rack. Works great.
Drying dish rack cabinets that go above kitchen sinks are extremely common here in Spain - and many other parts of Europe. Are they not also in the US? My IKEA cabinet drying dish rack is wonderful and very well designed - easy to put dishes in and out, easy to keep clean, and holds many dishes. Close the cabinet doors and the drying dishes are completely out of sight.
hmm..does anyone know what material it's made of? thanks! =)
