This Year's Volvo Adventure Contest Kicks Off for Youth Everywhere

In case you’ve got a great idea for a project to get other students and youth involved in your community, it turns out that the Volvo Adventure contest is underway and they’re looking for bright ideas from youths everywhere to make the planet a better place.
To enter, you’ve got to submit team details and project information such as the objectives and an action plan to achieve them no later than January 31, 2008. Awards include a trip to Sweden and a shot at three prizes once you’re there: 1st prize of $10K USD, 2nd of $6K and 3rd being $4K.
The contest is run in conjunction with the United Nations Environment Programme, and the prize money can be used to help make your dream a reality.
For a list of last year’s finalists’ head here to check out various ideas from around the world such as the students from Japan who, as featured above, worked to better utilize their local bamboo forest as an alternative source of energy to fossil fuels.
