Transformer Furniture: "Lea" Sofa/Bed

A possible answer to the question "How can I have a bed and a sofa all in one?", "Lea" is a "poltrona trasformabile" (that's "convertible chair" for any non-Italian speakers) designed by Paola Verzola for Italian company Casamania. A really sleek design is complemented by a really simple device for transformation; just pop the buckle to go from sofa to bed.

It's available in beige, black, brown, blue, light blue, green, orange, red, white and yellow, so it'll match any decor and is a great way to save space, live small and get the most from your furnishings. Hit the jump to see Lea in bed mode. ::Casamania via ::Pan-dan

Is there anything green about this stylish piece of furniture?

I'm guessing it's green because it combines furniture, reducing the need to buy additional furniture and saving space. That being said, the coach/bed combo is already done fairly well in existing furniture....and this design is hardly any better in form or function. The straps aren't terribly attractive either. Now if a designer can gracefully combine something that isn't a seat or a wall with a bed in a way that makes sense.....then I'll be interested.

These things (or something that looks that same but is much cheaper) have been fixtures in dorm rooms for at least a decade. This furniture has even been nicknamed the "flip and f*#k" by some of the less bashful people I know. (I actually don't know the real name for this kind of furniture.)

You can even get them at places like Target and Wal-Mart... Or, at least you could 10 years ago, when I was in the market for this kind of furniture. Now, I prefer a bed.
