SustainUS Offers Young Citizen Scientists the Opportunity of a Lifetime

If you’re a member of the 13-26 crowd who’s scientifically oriented with an eye for complex details and an amazing ability to explain it to the rest of us then I’ve got just the contest for you to get involved with!
SustainUs is looking for scientific papers from the above mentioned age group dealing with the topic of sustainable development for their annual paper competition. Winner gets their original science research published online in the Citizen Science Journal, as well as the opportunity to present their findings at the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development in NYC next spring.
Not sure what to write about or where to start? Well consider one of the winning entries put together last year by high school student Alex Mizenko. It’s appropriately titled “New York City Under Siege?”, and deals with the probabilities and circumstances surrounding an increase in sea level rise and the correlating increase in damage done by a storm surge via a hurricane like the one that hasn’t hit the NY Metro area in an eerily long time…
Of course it’s got to be original to qualify, and it’s got to be fascinating for some reason or other too if you expect to win… But that’s what the community of Treehugger is all about, and I suspect there’s a winning entry out there somewhere among all of you!
