We Can't Make This Stuff Up Dept.: One Cup or Two Sugar Mug

Offering an interesting new take on the "disposable" coffee cup, designer Anna Bullus' mugs are made from 100% sugar. Not only do they slowly melt away when hot coffee or tea is poured in one, but you don't have to add whatever sweet stuff you might ordinarily spike your cup o' joe with. Good for four cups, the sweet little mugs are truly "biodegradable," though it gets more points for an original and "cute" idea than for real-world practicality; hit the jump for another pic. Still, sometimes you just need some sugar with your tea...we can't make this stuff up. ::Anna Bullus via ::Inhabitat

and you don't mention how sugar is BAD for anyone & evryone......

Sugar is toxic. And most folks are addicted to it....
I'd suggest reading the following -

In order to sweeten a cup of tea I'd suggest Mapel syrup (pure + organic), or Agave.

That is really cute. I actually like the rough cast look of the cups themselves.

Bananaking - what is Mapel syrup? I've never heard of it but it sounds great.

jump to top Alex says:

Um sugar is also in maple syrup and agave. Sugar is not bad.

People aren't addicted to sugar, they are addicted to HFCS and all those nasty corn-derived sweeteners.

I avoid corn syrup as much as possible but enjoy my sugary desserts. It's like everything else- the key is moderation. I also use Agave syrup but not in coffee. Yuck.

"Sugar is toxic."

Apparently you don't live in the same reality as the rest of us or you think the word 'toxic' means 'delicious.'

although it looks cute.. and the story about it sounds nice..
isn't it too much energy spent for such an useless product?
once you buy a ceramic cup .. you can use it for ages.
I don't think this is a sphere in which much waste is produced..

cute? yes. pointless? probably. a waste of energy? almost certainly.

Refined sugar is a processed food - throughout most of human evolution, the amount of calories that would be burned harvesting that much natural sugar (finding, picking, eating the veg/fruit, etc.), would have warranted the consumption of the sugar. Now though, you can buy pounds of it for practically nothing. Our food is flooded with refined sugar, and our increasing diabetes and belt lines in America reflect this.

According to a 2002 study from Princeton, sugar triggers the brains production of opioids, which are addictive.

Yes, there is sugar in maple syrup, and agave. However the glycemic index of M syrup is somewhat lower than refined sugar, and the G index of agave syrup is considerably lower. I'm successfully fighting off 'terminal' brain cancer, primarily [but not solely] by lowering my [natural] sugar intake, and dropping my refined sugar intake entirely.

Health and Happiness to all,
Oscar
