The 11 other states that have clutched California's tough emissions standards against their legislative bosoms: Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey (whoo hoo!), New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington.

Five states that have said they plan to jump on board are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, and Utah.

Also, California's Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown today announced plans to sue the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for lallygagging on the much-needed waiver that will allow the state to implement stricter standards than those imposed under federal law. If the EPA denies the waiver, "we sue again, and sue again, and sue again until we get it," Schwarzenegger told reporters.

Illinois has said it will join California's lawsuit but has not decided if it will adopt the state's emissions standards. Other states that plan to join the lawsuit against the federal government are Arizona, Connecticut, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey (whoo hoo!), New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. ::AP and ::Reuters

Huzzah for Vermont. Give me five NY and PA. Who would have imagined it would get to a point where we had to sue the ENVIRONMENTAL Protection Agency for failing to protect the environment?

And SheepGuy42, PA can be pretty green (well not Pittsburgh, where I went to school, they don't even recycle in the city), they have a good incentive program for RE installation and I know one guy who has a very successful international Micro-Hydro installation company based in PA. He helped my boss install the harris generator that runs our off-grid office

I am so glad this is happening. It's like over-riding a Bush veto. Wish this started 5 years ago.

Florida? Did I read Florida? Wow; our new governor is a Republican that put a moratorium on new power plants...and now this?? The things that start happening when a state level Bush is gone. I can only dream of January 2009 when the other one goes back to the ranch for the last time.....

Texas isn't on there. Why am I not surprised???

Hmmm, looks like the two coasts are gettting the idea. Middle America, where are you?
