Thanks to some copious bookkeeping, he knows that his water use is around 66 gallons a day; that's too much, and a lot of that from the shower. "I like my shower to be very powerful. This unfortunately results in a 40 gallon shower. How can I have both a powerful shower and use less water?" If you know a good, non-trickling low-flow showerhead, then let's hear from you! |

After testing quite a few low-flow shower heads, we settled on the aerating units from Oxygenics (1.7 gpm, ~$25) and Bricor (1.5 gpm, ~ $65). Got mine at www.efi.org.
The Bricor is very well built and both pay back very quickly. Could be under a year if you have four or more in the house and/or heat water electrically. No problems w/ scaling or clogging after two years. The aeration makes it feel powerful, hard to believe they save 1 gpm over our old units.
My daughter says she's taking the Oxygenics model to college. So they're both teenager-approved.
I use a Waterpik shower head that I've had for 10-12 years. Don't believe they make it anymore, but they might have a newer one. It pressurizes and aerates. I also turn it off during lather.
