In a couple of days, Fedex will be unveiling its new diesel hybrid-electric van at the European Road Transport Show in Amsterdam. These vans will manufactured by the Italian company Iveco and based on Inveco's Daily Transport van. The company is aiming for a 30% reduction in fuel consumption (based on operating cycle) with the standard Daily Hybrid.

The van will be trailed close to the manufacturer’s site in Turin, Italy, and will be the first hybrid-electric/diesel vehicles operated by FedEx in Europe. FedEx currently operates hybrid vehicles in the US, Canada and Japan. See also: FedEx Express Adding 75 Hybrid Diesel-Electric Trucks

Yay! I love FedEx!
A 30% saving in fuel costs will give FedEx a real cost saving compared to its competition and if other cities follow London's example FedEx will likely make even greater savings in congestion charges/local taxes.
Nice one FedEx.
I have actually noticed many of these hybrid trucks in Vancouver BC as of late, specifically when I was near the airport and right downtown. These hybrid delivery trucks make so much sense, so much stopping and going.
