Envirofit Receives Funding at the Clinton Global Initiative

In the video posted above, Plenty interviews Ron Bills of Envirofit International, a Colorado-based non-profit and one of the beneficiaries of the Lemelson Foundation's $2 million largesse, as announced at this year's Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting.
Envirofit plans on retrofitting roughly 3,000 two-stroke motorcycle taxi engines, a major source of outdoor pollution, in Vigan Philippines by 2010. (The nation harbors over 1.8 million two-stroke vehicles.) This endeavor, the company says, will mitigate 3,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year, while infusing the local economy with $1.4 million in fuel-cost savings and creating about 50 local jobs.
Its direct-injection technology is also expected to cut 76 percent of the carbon-monoxide emissions you get with conventional two-stroke engines. By increasing fuel efficiency by 35 to 50 percent, says Envirofit, 120 gallons of fuel will also be saved each year. Smokin'. ::Envirofit
