Bernard Rudofsky said Streets are for People. We say Cars are a scourge on the face of the planet. On Saturday, September 22 we can all take back the streets and celebrate World Carfree Day, "an annual celebration of cities and public life, free from the noise, stress and pollution of cars."

Throw a parking meter party. Do some guerilla gardening. Show that roads belong to all of us. Take back the streets. ::World Car Free Day

Cars are a scourge on the face of the planet? World car fee day? Great! I'll remember that as I drive down my street, alone, in my Suburban. Ha!

I live on the side of a mountain in central rural NH. Don't tell me that I can use public transportation - it is non-existent.

Note: I live in a passive solar hour and telecommute every day to save energy...

You're so cool, Skip! No one ever comes to Treehugger and says, "I drive a huge SUV. Ha!"

Very original comment, Skip.

Brian and Jack - I should move from a place that I love just because I do not fit your idea of a complete TreeHugger? I use a renewable source for heat - Sun and wood. I use compact Fl. bulbs all over, with motion sensors to turn them off automatically. I have cut my electrical usage in half over two years.

But I'm a "zero" for driving an SUV that is paid for? Tell you what - adapt my snowplow to work well with a Prius and I'll think about it.

b & j were the famous brotherly duo who are fictions and who I thought you sounded like.

yes, if you want to be a treehugger, move. if that is more important than where you live, move. if not, maybe you should be comment trolling at the NH website, not the TH site.

but what really pissed off me and the other commenter was your smug "i drive a planet killer, but i do some other small things that still my carbon output more than a city dweller who rides the bus" wording and laughing. if you think driving what you drive is so great, why the hell do you read TH?

and there are plenty of smaller vehicles that hold a snow plow than what you drive sir.
